Microsoft releases MSN Messenger Service
Microsoft has released their version of an Instant Messenger Service, designed to compete against AOL's ICQ. For instructions on how to download and use it, see our MSN Messenger tutorial. Here's what Microsoft says MSN Messenger can do: See when your friends are online—whether they use MSN Messenger Service or AOL Instant Messenger. Send and receive instant messages in real time with one or more of your friends. Enjoy easy-to-follow exchanges by being able to tell when someone in the conversation is typing. Easily control who can see when you're online and who can send you instant messages. Be automatically notified when you receive new messages in your Hotmail e-mail account. See when your friends are online and send them an instant message using Outlook Express 5.
